- Mycology: Detailed instruction on the identification and classification of fungi, including yeasts and Molds, and their significance in clinical diagnostics.
- Virology: In-depth understanding of virus structure, replication, and pathogenesis, as well as methods for virus detection and identification.
- Health and Safety at the Workplace: Training on standard safety protocols, risk assessment, and adherence to health and safety regulations in the laboratory setting.
- Specimen Reception: Procedures for proper specimen reception, logging, and initial handling to ensure the integrity and traceability of clinical samples.
- Specimen Culture: Techniques for culturing a variety clinical samples.
- Diagnostic Identification Techniques: Hands-on experience with both manual and automated methods for identifying microorganisms, including biochemical tests and molecular techniques.
- Following Complex Diagnostic SOPs: Training on adhering to and implementing complex Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accurate and efficient diagnostic testing.
- Diagnostic Report Interpretation Techniques: Skills development in interpreting diagnostic results and reporting clinically relevant findings.
- Staining: Instruction and practice in various staining techniques
- Microscopy: Training on operation and maintenance of microscope to aid diagnosis.
- Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS): Introduction to LIMS, focusing on data entry, management, and retrieval to ensure efficient laboratory workflow and data integrity.
