We have moved the trainees into the Microtomy area of the lab and can see that they have been shown all areas of Health & Safety, Trimming, Sectioning, Hotplate and Water Bath use
The quality of their work is excellent
If we are able to organise another session we woulkd like to see:

• Moreblock re-alignment training
• Use of the automated cutting function
• Real-time staining and checking of H&Es

I have never used a microtome before I even worked in a lab until recently. Now I can cut all different tissues, using various techniques.
My trainer explained every detail very simply and giving us demonstrations so that we could pick up different ways. I am now confident going to the lab and cutting blocks retrieving sections from them of good quality.
My trainer has taught me a lot, was very encouraging and always positive. My trainer clearly has a lot of experience and skills. I am lucky to have been taught by him.

I really enjoyed this training on the microtomy section cuttings and appreciated that our trainer helped us to reach our everyday goals. Before the training, I didn't know how to get the "full face" section cut from the block but now I am able to collect levels and even get the section cut from the megablock. After being exposed to different everyday's scenario, I feel much better prepared thanks to the trainer.

Great session. Trainer was very attentive and explained everything at great pace. However, I do wish maybe a longer session would have been nice just to get more of practice. To conclude, it was a great informative session.

I've took part in a 7-day training in microtomy with Kunle at my job as a Histology Medical Laboratory Assistant . Dealing with the microtome was new for me but as the days progressed with my training I felt more comfortable cutting tissue samples. Throughout the training, Kunle was very patient and explained everything in great detail. I was fortunate to add these skills to the skills I already possess when it comes to working in a laboratory.
